Owner of Brighter Thoughts Therapeutic Services, LLC
Founder of Brighter Thoughts, Brighter Days, Inc.
Jennifer D. Nelson is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the States of Arkansas, Florida, Massachusetts, and Oregon, the owner of Brighter Thoughts Therapeutic Services, LLC, and the founder of Brighter Thoughts, Brighter Days, Inc., a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting growth, stability, and hope for individuals and families. She brings more than fifteen years of clinical and leadership experience across hospital, inpatient behavioral health, outpatient, and school-based settings. She approaches her work with the belief that meaningful change begins with insight, intention, and the ability to challenge unhelpful patterns of thinking—guided by her core philosophy, “Change Your Thoughts, Change Your Life.” Her professional background reflects a strong commitment to comprehensive assessment, effective treatment planning, and coordinated care that supports clients and families through complex clinical and psychosocial challenges.
Through Brighter Thoughts, Jennifer provides thoughtful, trauma-informed care that includes individual, group, and family therapy, crisis intervention, and comprehensive clinical assessment. She is highly skilled in psychosocial assessment, case management, and discharge planning, with particular expertise in acute psychiatric care, medical social work, and transitions from emergency and inpatient settings to less restrictive levels of care. Her work as a Medical Social Worker in hospital-based critical care and medical/surgical units has informed her collaborative, systems-oriented approach to patient care and continuity of services.
In addition to her clinical practice and business leadership, Jennifer has held leadership roles within inpatient behavioral health settings. Most recently, she served as Assistant Clinical Director at the largest children and adolescent’s behavioral health facility in the state of Arkansas, where she partnered closely with executive and clinical leadership to oversee therapeutic milieu programming, staff development, and multidisciplinary treatment coordination. In this role, she provided direct supervision and mentorship to mental health technicians and clinical staff, managed performance and compliance, and led trainings and initiatives designed to improve patient outcomes and strengthen organizational effectiveness.
Throughout her career, Jennifer has worked collaboratively with multidisciplinary treatment teams—including psychiatrists, physicians, nurses, educators, and community agencies—to ensure treatment goals are clearly defined, progress is effectively monitored, and barriers to success are addressed with care, clarity, and professionalism. She is recognized for her ability to build rapport with individuals from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds and for her calm, structured approach to complex clinical and administrative challenges.
Jennifer earned her Master of Social Work degree from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology with a minor in Criminal Justice. Her professional foundation also includes early career experience with child welfare services, juvenile justice–involved youth, and foster care systems, which continues to inform her strengths-based, family-centered approach to care.
Driven by a strong sense of purpose and service, Jennifer brings integrity, warmth, and clinical expertise to her work as a clinician, business owner, and nonprofit founder. She strongly believes in the guiding principle, “Change Your Thoughts, Change Your Life,” and integrates this philosophy into both her clinical work and leadership approach—helping individuals and teams build insight, resilience, and lasting change. She is deeply committed to empowering clients, supporting staff development, and delivering high-quality, ethical, and compassionate behavioral health services.
